Yocnapatawpha Performing Arts Center
Architect: Howorth and Associates
Location: Oxford, MS The Yocnapatawpha Performing Arts Center got its local nickname "The Powerhouse" from its origins as a powerhouse built in 1928. The space, which includes a 190-seat studio theater and adjacent meeting space, serves as the home for the Oxford Arts Council and hosts local events and art shows, as well as musical and dramatic performances. The project has been undergoing phased improvements since 2006.
Our work included architectural acoustics, noise control, facility design (including lighting, audio/video power, sound system, storage, and loading clearances), and coordination with electrical and mechanical contractors during construction phase for the theater. |
